Teriyaki chicken

I know, I know. A chinese girl with an asian recipe. but ACTUALLY, this comes from my mother-in-law Linda in Indiana.

1 C soy sauce
2 C water
3/4 C brown sugar
1 t. garlic powder or fresh garlic
dash of ginger or fresh ginger
2-2.5 lbs of chicken

combine ingredients in pot, stirring together. Put chicken in pot and simmer for about 2 hours. Serve with rice and veggies.
